What Makes the HitchMount Design Special?
The HitchMount LED Pod Reverse Kit is based on our popular Stage Series C1 LED pod light, making it extremely compact, while still delivering significant light output.
The HitchMount LED hitch light has been designed to fit right into place in any standard 2-inch trailer hitch receiver.
It has two tabs on either side of the unit, as well as a retention tab on the top. This patent-pending design is what allows the HitchMount LED trailer hitch light to simply snap into place for a quick, easy installation.
When it’s time to tow, the HitchMount LED trailer hitch light is just as easy to remove, so you can get to work without any hassle.
The HitchMount hitch light is designed to work with any standard, 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. The best part? The whole installation can take less than one minute!
The HitchMount LED Pod Reverse Kit’s revolutionary design makes installation incredibly easy and provides several functional lighting benefits, such as:
- Additional high-power hitch reverse light

- 4th brake light with Safety Strobe feature
This kit allows you to mount one SSC1 or C1R LED pod light in your 2-inch trailer hitch receiver, adding a high-power hitch reverse light, additional running light, and an optional 4th brake light with the C1R option.

Brighter Hitch Reverse Light
Factory reverse bulbs just don’t provide enough light output to confidently back up at night. By pairing our patented TIR optics with high-powered LEDs, the SSC1 and C1R included in this HitchMount LED Pod Reverse Kit provide an additional hitch reverse light that’s several times brighter than the stock bulbs alone.
This LED trailer hitch light will automatically illuminate in a bright white when the vehicle is put in reverse! This feature gives you a better view of what’s behind you and gives you more confidence when you back up at night.
Additional Running Light
The HitchMount LED hitch light included in this kit also features a distinctive red backlight that can be used as an additional running light while driving!
The backlight fully illuminates the TIR optic, providing a noticeably more unique and modern look than the small indicator LEDs found in other similar products.
Safety Strobe 4th Brake Light
The C1R LED hitch light model features a high-power red color function to serve as a powerful 4th brake light, along with the low-power running light.
The high-power red functionality activates every time you apply your brakes, adding an unmissable 4th brake light to your vehicle.
The C1R trailer hitch light also features optional brake light strobing. By default, the C1R will flash three times anytime the brake lights are applied, for greater visibility.
The SafetyStrobe feature can be easily disabled if desired. This can be done by locating the purple wire on the module of the C1R LED hitch light wiring harness and disconnecting it. To re-enable the SafetyStrobe feature, simply reconnect the purple wire to the module.
Everyday Operation
With the included wiring harness, the HitchMount LED Trailer Hitch Light Kit connects to your vehicle’s factory trailer hitch wiring for simple, everyday operation.
This kit is completely plug-and-play with all 7-pin trailer connectors. The included harness plugs right into your factory trailer hitch wiring for easy installation.
If you would like to have the ability to turn the hitch reverse light on at any time, we also offer a universal backup harness. The harness allows you to override the factory backup light functionality and enable your trailer hitch light with the flip of a switch!
NOTE: If your trailer connector is not 7-pin, this kit will still work for you but will require slight modification to the harness.
Simple Installation
The HitchMount's patent-pending snap-fit design allows you to install this mount in minutes, without any drilling or need for a hitch pin.
Simply insert the HitchMount LED hitch light into your trailer hitch receiver and the snap-fit side mounts will snap into place. Installation couldn’t be easier and takes less than five minutes.
This kit is ideal for anyone who uses their trailer hitch often since removal can also be done in minutes!
To remove your hitch light, simply unplug the harness, press the snap-fit pins, and remove the mount. When you’re not using your hitch for towing, you can quickly reinstall the HitchMount trailer hitch light and plug it back in.
If you need more security, or peace of mind, and would like to use a locking trailer pin to install the kit instead of the snap-fit pins, you can do so with a quick, simple modification demonstrated in the video below.

Traditional optics like reflectors or simple lenses lose light internally, to glare, so not all of the light shines on target.
The HitchMount LED Trailer Hitch Light Kit utilizes a custom-engineered TIR optic that collects all of the light from the high-powered LED and directs it only where you need it, drastically reducing glare and improving total efficiency.
While other options on the market lose as much as 10% of the light output shining through an outer lens, the custom-molded TIR optic in the HitchMount LED hitch light serves as both the optic and main lens delivering greater efficiency and light output.

Thanks to this innovative feature, when coupled with high-intensity LED chips, the total intensity of our HitchMount trailer hitch light is much greater than other LED hitch lights using basic optics or reflectors with a standard outer lens.
Functional Output
The HitchMount trailer hitch light was designed with optical simulation modeling, to shape the output in a highly-functional beam pattern.
This beam pattern was designed to provide uniform, even illumination with a full 50 x 50-degree spread of light on the HitchMount LED Pod.
Unlike generic lights that are simply a heavily diffused spotlight, The HitchMount uses pillow optics on the outer lens surface, to provide a true optically designed spread, for even illumination throughout.
This allows for the best hitch reverse light illumination to give you more confidence when you’re backing up at night.
Proven Reliability
The HitchMount LED Pod Kit has been extensively tested for long-term operation from -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, along with vibration, moisture intrusion, and corrosion testing.
